INTEGRATED SECURITY.

Overt is founded on the core belief that integrated security – spanning physical security, digital information security, and human vulnerability management – is the key tenet of effective risk management. Each of our professionals brings years of expertise in these arenas and have long recognized what others have just begun to see: that effective organizational security is found at the convergence of these three dimensions.

Integrated approach to security

Human

People are our greatest assets and our greatest vulnerabilities. Security awareness training remains one of the best methods of combating cybercrime. We simply must empower our employees to be more cyber aware. However, we also need good policies and procedures that we communicate to our employees so that they know both what is expected and how to have good cyber hygiene. Technical controls should help enforce these policies and procedures. Vulnerability management should be ongoing to find new issues. For mature organizations, insider threat programs can help reduce the likelihood of having an employee issue and increase detection when internal issues occur.

Physical

Information security not synonymous with cybersecurity, as physical controls must be considered as part of every security program. Consider cleared-desk policies, paper shredders, secure file cabinets, and computer rack locks. These are physical controls to information. Add to that a badge system, door-prop alarms, cameras, and panic alarms to help ensure the physical safety of our employees and visitors.

Cyber

As our information assets become ever-more digitized and communications moves to the Internet, cybersecurity increases in importance. Productivity, efficiency, interconnectivity, and more drive our organizations to become more digital every day. And we’ve seen criminals follow.
